Training tutorials
I have uploaded OpenCart through Bluehost. I have tried to figure out how to use it but can't see to do anything. Do you have a tutorial on how to set it up?
Thanks, Thrifty Treasure

Re: Training tutorials
The version of OpenCart available through Bluehost is OpenCart 0.7.7. Since then, we have done some considerable work in improving the software and fixing bugs. I strongly recommend using the latest version 0.7.9RC5 which you can download from here:
http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/top ... l#msg12441
This downloadable ZIP-file includes a simple 'install.txt' file which describes how to install OpenCart.
I agree with your request that we should create a better documentation for OpenCart as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have specific questions let us know, hopefully we can help you through this forum.
To QPhoria: I'd be willing to set up a Wiki on my server where we could start working on some documentation, or I could extend my current PDF document. The latter describes in detail how to maintain categories, products and options via the Export/Import feature, with loads of screenshots.

Re: Training tutorials
We already have a wiki setup, but we're planning a revamp of the site.
Documentation will follow after the final release of 0.7.9.
At the moment we feel the core code is more important than the documentation and site, so we're trying to get our priorities sorted.

Re: Training tutorials
@JN the more hands we can get on the grueling task of documentation the better
I also have a wannabe-wiki (in MS Word) that I've been using to throw some thoughts down on paper so we can get them into a nice wiki (tho i tend to hate most wiki softwares)
We are looking at redesigning the OpenCart site, and finding a CMS that plugs into a wiki or has some wiki addon. I believe we are looking at drupal at this time.
As soon as we can get this 0.7.9 curse release finalized we can progress to getting the rest of this stuff moving forward!

hm2k, Opera 9.62 breaks the main site
I get the error:
Notice: Undefined variable: gzdata in /home/opencart/public_html/opencart/system/library/response.php on line 50
and then a string of box characters that look like it's swearing at me for being so stupid as to use Opera for www.opencart.com
I think it's that encoding thingy issue jneuhoff was discussing with someone else.
Opera is dumb

Re: Training tutorials
the main www.opencart.com site? Dunno why it would get a php error differently than other browsers.
But all the same.. we are redesigning it.
Opera would be the leader of the browser war is they didn't used to charge for it. They started going free too late in the game, but there was a time that they were the only alternative browser when Netscape 4.7 was dying and IE5 was current..
It's a sad story of mismanagement and being too perfect in an imperfect world... like laserdisc!

Re: Training tutorials
I can confirm this error on http://www.opencart.com when using Opera 9.62. Same problem in Konqueror.
Take a look at this thread:
http://forum.opencart.com/index.php/top ... l#msg11370
Chances are it's the same issue here.

Re: Training tutorials
I've no access to the main site to fix this error, but hopefully the whole site will be replaced soon enough anyway, give it a bit of time.
Meanwhile, maybe Daniel will look into this error, but it's not overly important right now.
