Custom sized products (defined by customer)

Hi all,

To set the scene - i have a client who sells fabric. Lots of different styles, thicknesses etc, and it is all priced per square metre

At present, they have lots of products for the same piece of fabric at different lengths - ie 1m x 1m = £5, 1m x 10m = £50, 5m x 5m = £125 etc etc

I wish to implement the following

Set each product to be priced at the value for 1 square metre
On the home page, have a form which links into the database
When the customer visits the site, they can select from the dropdown list of all the products available with their price per sq m.
The customer can then set the width in a text box
The customer can then set the length in a text box

A clever bit of coding should then take price of product X Wdith X Length = Total price for customer dimensions

This value should be displayed dynamically to the customer before clicking add to cart.

When the customer clicks add to cart, it passes through the product they chose, the width, the length, and the calculated price.


for example

Product : Floral print cotton sheet £10 per sq m.
Width : 2m
Length : 10m
Total price : £200



The client can then cut exactly the size required for the customer and ship it to them.

Can anyone provide me with a quote for this functionality at all please?
