What do i do when i install contributions after the update that do not support some of the functions

or vice versa

when i had contributions installed that all went away after i updated

what is the best practice for updating and maintaining functionality of my updates


ie just about every update changes the products.php file
what do you do?

We are working on ways to include "plugins" that don't modify the actual files. For now, you have to manually merge changes. Always be sure you document the changes you make for future reference.

not having umm "experience" how would one merge those changes

or what is the best way to know what needs to go to the new file?

You will just be comparing 2 files... New and yours

Try to find the code changes that you made in yours and mimic those in the new one, trying to follow the structure.
