We are developing a Point of sale for opencart. The standard version will be free.

Now a prototype is ready for demo.
Doc: http://forum.pos4opencart.com/viewforum.php?f=16
Demo: http://pos4opencart.com/opc/admin login with: demo/demo

Features:
Payment management
In store payment management
Multi-payments for one order
Payment type set up
Cash register
Native to opencart
Point of Sale (Prototype)

Why are we doing that?
We looked for a POS for opencart for a long time but I did not found what I wanted so we decided to make our own.
We have thought about synchronizing order, products and customers information between opencart and a third party POS but some opencart functions will be lost. Now it's completely native to opencart so you will not loose any function by using it.

Planed Features
Full function Point of Sale on Opencart
Restaurant mode
Phone order
we are setting up a forum and feature request will be taken there

since it will coordinate with the web system, is it possible to use Payment Methods X, Y, or Z for web sales but for in-store sales use Payment Methods A, B, or Z ? (Z could be paypal for instance)

the reason is that physical swipes usually have a lower percentage and this can add up over time (but paypal now has a cc so paypal could be used for both, henze Z above)

thanks

Sure you can do that.
You can now add a payment type PAYPAL CC at POS module setup page. But because the Paypal credit cart processing is not integrated you have to go to your Paypal page to process the payment and add the payment manually use this POS module.

A possible integration is to add a button to sent payment type and amount to Paypal and add this payment to order when Paypal processing is successful. By doing this you only save one click and one amount entering. You will not get any new function. So it's low priority task on our list.

i know this is jumping ahead, but are there plans to add (1) touchscreen capability - usually some java thing, and (2) barcoding, (3) multiple physical store locations, and (4) warehouse tracking?

would be most cool

thanks

We do have plans for (3). For (1) and (2) we are looking into the possibilities.
(4) is a bit far from us now.

for (2) barcoding, here's a php/mysql system that does barcoding:

for (1) touchscreen, here's an opensource java pos called Unicenta that is also (3) multi-store and (4) multi-warehouse:

Hello
It is good that the post is created for opencart but what if the network connection brakes so the shop can not connect to the point of sale system. So can you please create an extension that connects uniCenta POS with opencart so even when the web is down the shop can work and operate without any interruptions. Any links about unicenta and opencart integrated extension would be nice.
Is the new opencart POS tested from cyberattacks (how safe is to use it)?
Are anyone building accounting system for opencart or integrating free one with it?

Excuse me,
i'm a new guy in this forum, and I have high concern about POS system. However, as I don't really understand so I have some questions:
First, is the demo for Opencart POS completed.
Second, Is the new opencart POS tested from cyberattacks (how safe is to use it)? Are anyone building accounting system for opencart or integrating free one with it?
Okay, thank you if you spare me some minutes answering these questions, because I'm totally desperate to know this.
