How do I integrate the Shareyourcart Extension?
I'm running a web store and would like to increase my social media visibility. I stumbled upon an extension for Magento/Prestashop called "Shareyourcart" which pretty much places a button on the product page that will allow the customer to share what they are buying with their facebook friends, but it also offers them a coupon for doing so-- a good incentive to share.
I noticed on the cart compatibility list (shareyourcart.com/compatible-shopping-carts) that Opencart isn't supported, but they provide an SDK that apparently works for every shopping cart.
Is it possible to integrate with opencart? Will the coupon codes actually function? I feel that this would be a useful extension for opencart to have.

Sounds like a good idea for a new extension, have you searched existing extensions, I'm suprised its not already there.

There's a paid one here, but it has less functionality and it's not open source :/

Hello
Just had a bit of a look and I think Its not to hard to integrate.
They give good step by steps.
For me I'd rather try and do it within my own site though.
I'll play around a bit more and post my thoughts later.
Cheers

Hi
I could be wrong but I feel like that adds to much overheads etc. Just check what you've got to do to your header meta tags. I think the concept is fantastic though.
I'm going to put in on my todo list to make a proper extension with equal or better features.

Re: How do I integrate the Shareyourcart Extension?
Hi Guys,
I'll try to answer all your questions, step by step:
Yes, it is possible to use the SDK to integrate with OpenCart, and yes, this means the coupon will automatically work, leaving you to focus on running your business, not managing your coupons.
The SDK also allows different levels of integration, depending on your development experience. The simplest one is on the first page of developers.shareyourcart.com
We have a lot of request from a lot of platforms to create plugins for them, thus we prioritize our roadmap by the interest actual owners show to using that platform & plugin. You can increase the interest for OpenCart here: http://shareyourcart.uservoice.com
Indeed, we did our best to make it as simple as possible. If you have any questions regarding it, please send us an email at http://www.shareyourcart.com/contact and we will hep out + even update the docs if we see there is a simpler way to explain it.
There are some meta tags to be added, but to it's fairness, the tags og:title, og:image, og:url, og:description are exactly the ones that Facebook request from page owners so that it's Like button works properly.
