Zip have released an official extension for OC 2.0 and above. Problem being is that our store is too heavily customised to consider an update from 1.5.5.1 at this time. I know that time will eventually come but I am hoping to prolong this as long as possible.

That being said, would any of the developers on this forum be able to provide an indication of how much work would be involved to modify the existing extension to work with OC 1.5.5.1?

Happy to pay a reasonable fee, provided this is done correctly.

Well, that should not be so hard, by use of the v.2.0.x Version,
since most lines in charge still contain the 1.5.x familiar:
$this->whatever-> - way of doing things. I guess, that
for ~25-35 US Bucks, even one of the better known figures around
here should be able to make it for you, to pricewise not have to
depend on mostly 'hidden' Parties only. :D

The only problem is, that you use an old Version, and most will
not have such a Setup installed anymore. But you should only hand
over any Server Access Credentials to known and trustworthy Dev's,
to make sure, to only get, what you need, by not unwillingly sharing
anything, or even suddenly serving someone or something else... :choke:

So, one of the 'older' well known 1.5.x Dev's could be a little more
expensive, but there would be much less risk involved as well.

Just to have it repeated, the World is full of everything, just like OC!
Good Luck! ;)

IP_CAM, that is what I was thinking also.

You are quite right regarding server credentials. I am already extremely careful when handing over credentials. I always create a new support account and only provide access to the required areas. Also, each time this has been required, new credentials have been created and deleted immediately after.

I do have some development knowledge and in most cases I can usually modify the code for an extension so suit our custom store. If I don't have any reputable dev's taking up this small job, I may even attempt this myself.

Well, the main problem is, that it only takes a modified common.js file, or
some other minor addition, like an oc-like-named php-editor file, left on
your server by some screwball, to then have control over such a server.
Changing/removing credentials will not do it, after you allowed someone,
to enter your place, i.E. by FTP, or some other Tool.

The only real way, to make sure, would be, to download a full Copy of all Content,
placed on a server, before anyone else gets a right to access it. And after some
Work has been done, download another full Copy, and compare it's Content with
with the one, you downloaded before. Then, you'll know, what has been changed,
and/or added.

But I don't plan to create Panic, still, if someone depends on OC, to generate Income,
one cannot afford, to take the slightest risk, in an well known insecure Environment.
Good Luck! ;)

Thank you for your concern Ernie.

Yes, I do also manually review all core files to check date last modified but I do not use a process as extensive as your example appears. Could you tell me the application you are using?

Further to this, we have a subdomain setup which runs a clone of our store with all customer data deleted (this is set to maintenance mode and is not accessible by search engines). If a developer requires access for testing purposes, they will be provided admin and FTP access to the clone only.

To be honest, in this case I would be perfectly happy with a developer ensuring the extension works on a default v1.5.5.1 install. I am quite confident that I could make any further changes to ensure compatibility with our custom store.

To get back on topic. Are there any takers to commit the requested modification to the official Zip extension?

Well, this is done by the Total Commander (ex. WinCommander), I use,
since I needed a Win Tool Replacement for my legendary Norton Commander,
due to the Move from DOS to WIN 3.11, the first well done MS Windows, many Moons ago. ::)
To me, it's the most perfect Tool ever created, to handle a Windows professionally,
and still in the old familiar and easy Peter Norton Way ! ;) And I tried 'em all ...
I would have given up, working on a Win-PC, 25 Years ago, if it would not exist. :D

Just an FYI for anyone chasing a Zip Pay extension for OpenCart v1.5.x.

I would recommend against the extension found here: http://www.opencart-extension.com/zippay

While it does seem to work, the developer has been very slow to respond to issues and I am now seeing errors in our log for which the developer has completely ignored for four days.

If by some chance the developer does decide to fix issues with an extension that they are offering for sale as a stable version, I will post an update.

Well, I ended up fixing this myself.

The developer was attempting to help through Skype and we did not seem to be getting anywhere, so I ran a couple of tests and narrowed this down to the vQmod file, where I found an if statement was not structured correctly.

I passed this onto the developer during the same conversation and there was complete silence. I can say the extension works as it should, but there certainly seems to be a communication issue with the developer.
