Hello

I'd love to be able to modify <h1><?php echo $heading_title; ?></h1> in category tpl so that it generates universal text in all my categories.

For example: At the moment the code will generate a simple category header based on what I name my categories, eg: "Shoes".

What I'd like to do is modify the code so it reads "Shoes - huge range of "category name here" at great prices!£ Or something to that effect. I don't want to add the text into my admin category description, for obvious reasons.

Could anyone help with this?

many thanks ;D

Edit your theme files at catalog/view/theme/YOUR-THEME/template/common/header.tpl

Yes, this is the correct location. YOUR-THEME is your theme's folder. for example, default theme, it will be in catalog/view/theme/default/template/common/header.tpl

Thanks marketinsg. This is the correct path, but this code echoes what we list as our category name. What I'd like to do is modify the code above to inclue extra text without it appearing as my category name in dropdowns, etc, etc. Do you know how to code this??

Cheers

Hi,

I've written a blog post on creating SEO friendly page titles for category and product pages. I go into detail on to how to make the system generate these up and it is easy to add in the extra text you are looking to create. The link is:

I've just had a thorough read of this article, Jack, and it's a cracker! Very well laid out and immediately understandable. I haven't implemented the code yet, so I will report back.

Works like a dream, Jack! Everyone should know about you - and this! It's made my day - thank you very much for sharing. Have you posted this article on the forum board yet? ;D

Just one question, Jack. Is there any way of putting a dash after the categorys and sub-cats? When the seo title displays, I sometimes get keyword repetition. For eg. Green apples apples - shop name, where green apples is the sub cat and apples the main cat.

Cheers mate! Made my day with that!

Yeah all you need to do is add a dot along with the dash in quotation marks like:

Code: Select all

$newTitle = $category_info['name']." - ".$parentCategory." - Shop Name";
I'm not sure about posting onto the forum board as I am a fairly new member, believe it not I only started using OpenCart seriously with work about a month ago(ish). I will have a look and see if I'm up to the standard!

Thanks,

Jack

I wish I'd seen the domain transfer tutorial last week - I transferred my blog to a new add-on domain and lost my PR2. :o

yes, definitely a must have option in a default opencart administration.
THANK YOU for sharing it!

I need a bit of assistance however.
I am developing a multi store in one store, lets say like that.
And I want the product and category pages to display the store name as well, just like in your mod. But, in your instructions, store name is with fixed name... just to type it in.
In my case, it is variable... how could I pull it out?

thanks a million...
