Simple structure of opencart how layout lay-out build up

This tutorial shows in a simple way the lay out of open cart for if you want to make adjustments to it.
If you are not familiar with OC and you want to change the lay out of your site
A lot of chanche can be made by your admin but if you want to make structural changes you need to adjust the HTML codes. Therefor you need for example filezilla (see youtube).

The top of your site is build up with the header template (catalog/view/theme/defaut/template/common/header.tpl)

The bottom is build up with the footer template
(catalog/view/theme/defaut/template/common/footer.tpl)

The catagory and information pages are build up with the catagory template
(catalog/view/theme/defaut/template/product/catagory.tpl)

The product page is build up with the product template
(catalog/view/theme/defaut/template/product/product.tpl)

The layout of every template (colors etc.) are ruled by stylesheet.
(catalog/view/theme/defaut/stylesheet/stylesheet.css)

If you want to make changes to he language of some parts goto catalog/language.
Here you can find the same structure as discribed above.

Your uploaded photos are palced in image/data. Opencart creates special images as the thumbnails and places them in image/cache
In system/libery/image.php the images are created (also the wite space around the pop-up images)

After making changes to the templates or stylesheet in filezilla store them and upload them to your host (automaticaaly asked by filezilla) then refresh your page and you imidiately see the changes.
If something gone wrong mostly you heve forgotten or deleted a tiny point , comma or something like that.
If it is completely gone wrong just upload a complete new template (internet) (drag it from the left side into common/product or stylesheet).
If filezilla doen’t work anymore your data amount migh be to short. Upgrade to more data at your host
