For some reason when customers register there telephone numbers for example a mobile number contains hyphens within the number, normally 2 of them breaking the number up... what would cause this ?

More information needed. Please read the forum rules. Vague inquiry. So far, it could probably an extension validating phone numbers with either JS or jQuery.

The most generated errors being found on Opencart forum originates from contributed programming. The increased post counters are caused by redundancies of the same solutions that were already provided prior.

I'd recommend you to use masked input for all or some of your form fields. Masked Fields extension can easily help you with this.

This isn't normal OpenCart behavior, so it's probably part of your theme. Contact your theme developer for support, and see if they can tell you how to disable the automatic-hyphen-adding.
