Wasn't sure where to put this so posting in here. I would like to be able to put announcements or a welcome message on the home page of my website. Can anyone tell me how I can do that please? I was able to do that with the earlier version.

I suggest is to buy a theme with such function ,that would save more time.

You could use HTML content module for that. Go to Extensions - Modules - HTML Content, enable it and create your message there, then go to Design - Layouts - Home and add it there.
