New customer can register or make an order and they get an email immediately.
Admin does not receive email notification.
Version 3.0.2.0
Tried using Mail settings, then SMTP settings and neither work.
It's a Gmail address we are using.


Set up SMTP settings according to this:

hi
may be its store setting problem.
you need to make sure for the configuration.
you may login to your admin section.
goto system -> setting then edit
goto option tab
here you may find two settings for email
New Account Alert Mail and
New Order Alert Mail
make sure yes is selected for this option

after confirming above details if it still not works you may test by creating email id associated with your domain.

Yes I have checked those options (in 3.0.2.0 those are in the "mail" tab and not "option" tab.

When I have set as smtp, this is the error I get when I try to create a new account

When i set as Mail, I don't get an error but it still doesn't work.

Hi, Did this problem ever get sorted? as I am having the same issues. Have read through lots of help and advice but cannot fatham it.

Always ask yourself WHY IS IT FREE???

Failed to enable crypto
As I've mentioned on the forum multiple times already, ensure to enable crypto on your domain when using SMTP port 587. That will resolved the issue.
