Hi, I'm looking for some advice on what kind of hosting resources i will need.... We are currently on a shared hosting platform and i believe we have out grown it.
We don't have massive traffic volume but have a very large database and as a result are struggling with site speed and import export of database.

The site URL is https://www.catering-spareparts.co.uk/

I'm unsure if we will need the power of a vps and what kind of resources i would need to go for or just move to a better hosting company..... Overall I'm also trying to keep cost down.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Well, at first, you could try, to use the .htaccess file, packed into the ZIP file,
to power up your shop. Compare the Performance Results, by use of gtmetrix.com
before and after uploading this .htaccess File to your Shop Root. It then will tell you,
what other steps are needed, to further enpower your Shop. Then, you can come here,
to get some other tips on this. And if it still does not meet your Requirements, you can
still move up to a more powerful Server.

And as a second step, before you come back here again, install the famous
Weismannweb Category Product Counting Cache OcMod Extension,
https://gist.github.com/weismannweb/8ad ... 8d751281b2
then, test a Categoy Page with 25 Products shown again on gtmetrix.com.

PS: Just don't forget, to totally clear out your Cache Sections in Admin First, to
then present 'latest' Coding to the Performance Tester Sites. ;)

Thanks for getting back to me, i will try the suggestions and see if i can optimise. But i feel we will need to move from a shared host to maybe a vps.
I'm thinking something with about 2-4gb of ram, 2 core with 40gb storage. Dose this seem about right for the size of overkill?

For very large databases, more RAMs and more cores may be required but also about monitoring resources with the active services on the server that are being used and also based on the average amount of data each database tables requires to operate the store(s). More information is needed.

The most generated errors being found on Opencart forum originates from contributed programming. The increased post counters are caused by redundancies of the same solutions that were already provided prior.
