A while ago, before lauching the webshop, I had trouble with my product images. Cost me a while to figure out that OC apparently had a problem with spaces in filenames. After figuring that out, I had no more problems with the images, ... until now.

I was editing a product, not even touching the images, and upon checking to see if the changes had taken effect in the frontend, the product image on the product page was gone... The image on the category page was fine... Huh?... I re-uploaded the photo's, without success. Weird, since product images were added to dozens of products without any problems before... Mild panic ensued  Can't have products without images after all, especially since the shop is live now.

Started messing with clearing cache (panel & manual FTP), re-adding, re-uploading, re-naming, doing all refreshes inbetween every action... I did manage to fix one product's images. How? No flipping idea :P

I even created a new test product, made a simple test image in Microsoft Paint (oh yes!) and added it to the product. Did not work. No image on the category page nor on the product page...

Anyone ever had anything even remotely similar happen?

I'll go and sit in the corner of a dark room and wobble back and forth all night now... :choke:

Well, this just means, that you have not much knowledge, when it comes to create a Website
according Spec's, and you eventually even tend to blame OC for this, insted of getting smart,
by reading about it first.
But to make a professional Software work like a professional tool, requires one, to keep some
standards, and follow some basic rules, otherways, it's likely not gonna work out as planned.
Good Luck, nothing personal ! ;)

Yes, I kind of knew that already.

No, that doesn't sound personal at all, Ernie ;) I guess having the guru status makes you forget your own humble beginnings while snickering at the n00bs ::)

At least this has brought me closer to a solution... Oh wait... ::)

As a closer solution, ensure your admin/config.php and config.php files contains the proper server paths especially for your images and that the database do not contain any path alteration in order to load those images from your category_image and product_image table. Also ensure to have set the proper permissions recursively on your image folder by following the install.txt file from the downloaded OC ZIP file from opencart.com .

The most generated errors being found on Opencart forum originates from contributed programming. The increased counters are caused by posted redundancies of the same solutions that were already provided prior.

Well, the OC Forum Status here has no relevance, it's counted on numbers only, but not
depending on qualification. But using OC strictly means business, and running
a successful business means, to have the technical background, required, to succeed.
Because if one plan's to change anything, to work different from the default way, it can
get tough, to still receive appropriate free assistance around here after a while.
I only asked about a handfull of Questions here, during my 4 + years around OC, but
never got a single reply, so I stopped asking, and learned by trail & error ... :choke:
Still, I am one out of the Perl-Age, so, I had some fundamental Knowledge on many things.

But OC is all about Business, like it or not, and for most everybody involved. That makes
this place much different from other 'Freeware-Sites', where not everybody is everybody
else's potential Competitor. One has to be aware of that, and act accordingly, or one will
not survive, as 'hard' as this may sound - it's just like in real Life too... ;)
Good Luck!
