Missing "image" type from options menu

Hi Everyone,
I'm posting this again, because I'm not sure if my last post actually went through or not. I apologize if it is a duplicate!
I'm trying to display options with images instead of radio buttons and text. In all the looking around the internet that I've done, it seems like opencart does this. Even in the OC documentation is says that the choose types are "select" "radio" "checkbox" and "image" http://docs.opencart.com/catalog/option/
but for some reason, the choices my admin panel displays do not include the "image" type.
Am I missing something from my opencart platform that should be there? My opencart came preinstalled with my hosting package so I didn't download it and install it myself.
Any thoughts about why this is missing or how I might be able to acquire it without re-installing opencart completely?
