I have an issue with a website that is running OpenCart 1.4.8 and using the Paypal Standard module that came with it.

The order gets processed successfully AND gets recorded in the back office BUT the stock is not reduced accordingly. After a few orders we noticed that the stock was not being subtracted as items which sold out still had their initial stock level.

Can anyone help me or offer guidance as to how I can fix it please? To give you some information on the setup:

- The return url in paypal has been set to: http://www.mydomain.com/shop (the shop is in a subfolder).
- Payment Data Transfer is on, as is IPN

I'm copying and pasting the browser URL below of the success page on the website that the user is returned to (just changed the domain name). The item number appears blank so I'm not sure if this value is getting lost somewhere?

Code: Select all

http://www.mydomain.com/shop/index.php?route=checkout/success&tx=4V713012J1974834T&st=Completed&amt=4.39&cc=GBP&cm=aWI%3d&item_number=
Also one other thing, on the last step of the checkout when you click 'confirm order' and are taken to the paypal website, the item description shows the website name, not the actual item being ordered. So again I'm not sure if this is part of the issue.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Zollgut, this can be a little tricky but just do it step by step. I am assuming you are not using a live site.

1. Turn OFF PayPal and set it up for COD for testing.
2. Make a purchase and see if stock is working properly.
3. If so, you know the problem is in your PayPal setup. Check all PayPal settings in your store and on PayPal.com.
4. If stock does NOT tick down using COD, you know you have set up STOCK incorrectly. Check all stock settings.

Hope that helps,
Merry

Hi Merry, thanks for the reply. I tested using the COD option and indeed this did not work either so it's not Paypal that is the issue it seems..

Can you tell me if I'm missing any settings for stock to be managed by the system?

The options in the back office are as follows:

In the settings area (Settings -> Option) the stock status is set to 'Out of Stock'. (the other options are 2-3 days, in stock, pre-order). I assume this means what happens if there is no stock for that item.

In the product data tab the 'Subtract Stock' option is set to 'Yes'.

Thanks again!

Does anyone know if I have missed any settings for stock to automatically update? Or if the problem may lie elsewhere? Thanks!
