Manufacturer as priority then product

Hi
I know opencart is based around the product, but i would like manufacturer as the first port of call for seo and then the product. Also maybe then category then product.
My site has a mod added for a description in the manufacturer (Artists) which allows it to be rich in content thus hopefully pleasing for SEO.
My website is http://www.gallerysales.co.uk/ and let me know if you think this is the best way forward.
Also would it reduce duplicate urls?
