Remove/disable language

I disabled English language in System-Localisation-Languages section, but it is still here and required on new product pages... why?

The Enable/Disable status is for your store front only. As long you have any language pack install, you will still see the language tabs in your admin. In your case, your customer will not see English as a language choice on your store, but you still can input English text in your admin.

Is it straightforward just to remove a language by deleting it in Admin [will it adversely affect the database] as it's a real pain to have to keep completing alternate titles when a language is not needed in my store?
