Hi folks,
is there any info on How many Categories and Products OC can handle?

I'm doing a little "pro bono" project, where the Categories are Countries, States and Regions. Products would be things people offer to help with.
So I'll end up having lots of Sub-Categories with lots of people(products). The people and what they do will be added, but won't have a category assigned but rather added as "related to this products" so you can find them trough a search, but not in the navigation.
I can see the backend getting pretty crowded, for which I'll have to find a solution and I'm getting a bit worried whether OC is the right choice in the long run?

I'm looking at around 20Categories with up to 30Sub-Categories and around 1800-2200 people(products)!?

Cheers

I think Opencart should handle this number of products and categories quite easily. I have done Opencart-based sites of similar size for other customers in the past.

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

I had a guy in america add 100,000 products. It ran slow but it worked. You just need to add more caching.

Thanks, sounds good :)

@Daniel
Do you see a quick way to make the new "Related Products" feature working both ways?
I just couldn't get Henrys contrib vor 1.1.8. to work with 1.2.6 (worked with 1.2.5 after altering it here and there)
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 767#p18115

Pointing me the right way would be very helpful, as I'll have to do many, many "Related Products"

Thanks for everything!

You could edit the file /admin/model/catalog/product.php so as to make sure each time a product gets added or updated it will enter the related products in both ways.
