Need to remove option to add to cart in category view?

While in category view, there is a + next to the item, I need this to go away, I do not want the ability to add too cart from that view, I want them to HAVE to click on the product to be able to click on the add to cart button. We are using the furniture template and I did not notice this feature before. I am using version Version 1.4.9.4

one of the reason's I don't want them to be able to add it to cart in the category view is I have modified the product display page to look for a certain date and time that is an attribute in the product while imputing the product. This allows the product to only display the add to cart button when the date and time is greater or equal than the attribute date/time.
