Hi, I have been dealing with recent spam on New Customer Registration which appears to be a spam bot, it's really concerning because I got these emails several times everyday. Examples of these emails are:

Subject: New Customer Registration: Gregoryappot GregoryappotOB
Subject: New Customer Registration: MariSmirer MariSmirerIW
Subject: New Customer Registration: LyndaJidly LyndaJidlyZC
Subject: New Customer Registration: Chestboino ChestboinoWT

Even though this impacted nothing on my site, since I don't have integrated paypal payment or something in my site, How to stop this? I am using the old OpenCart 1.4.9 Thank you.

I have the same awful problem, and I'm certain these spam bots are using my email address to spam my email with junk scams. It's so sad that this problem was posted over a year ago here, and not one person has come forth with a fix. Where is the real support?

Where is the real support?
Well, the real Support does usually not come for free, neither in real Life,
nor at the Web. I assume, you don't offer your Shop Products for free either,
or tell your Competitors, how you make sure, that your Shop works secure.

So better, get back down to earth, it's not a specific OpenCart Problem, you
mentioned. But without any figures and/or Facts, it's simply impossible, to reply.
Better ask Google on how to secure an eMail from beeing seen in the open ...

Silly me, I thought this was a helpful forum where knowledgeable people help those that are struggling to learn. I also thought that this issue would seem simple to such knowing people, as in theory it's just a matter of either installing captcha (which I have yet to get information on a quick/simple install), or at least disabling customer registration (which I also am unable to locate). I am not a knowledgeable person in matters of code and programming, so I look for help where I can. I am also a starving artist, so paying is a last-resort for my website.

Well, others are straving Coders, and going to watch Artists is a last-resort priority to them as well. :D

OpenCart is all about Business, for everybody involved, so, better just don't take it personal, but the
People around here all use OpenCart, to create income, and a quite low level of Enthusiasm exists,
to help unknown others, to get on their feet, and then eventually even ending up as potential Competitor. :-\

That's real live Business, as it exists. But accept it or not, it won't change a thing, I am around in this place
for a good while already, and I've never seen anyone, once helped, ever to come back, to assist others in return.
So, just because OC comes for free, better don't expect anything, to be included, it would only add to Frustration.
Good Luck, nothing personal ! ;)
