I've searched around but I couldn't find anything that relates to this.

I have some products that have a discount price using the "Special" feature in products. Occasionally, a customer orders an incorrect item and lets me know after the Special expires. When I edit the order (Sales->Orders->Edit), delete the mistaken product, then add the correct product, and finally click "Update totals", the new total does not show the discount.

My workaround has been to put the store in maintenance mode, change the specials date, edit the order, change the specials date back, and then take the site out of maintenance mode. This is a bit cumbersome.

Is there a way that the Order Editing feature can respect the special price of the date of purchase instead of the date it was edited?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same/similar issue even if I don't try to edit the product at all:
example - i had a customer order a product at a special price ($109.99), but he put the wrong email on his order. when attempting to edit the order, the special price of $109.99 that was on the product he ordered had expired and the current price was $119.99. when we went in to edit the order we changed his email and when we went to the product screen (not changing anything with the product) the price automatically updated to $119.99 - we don't want this to happen, we just want to edit the customers personal information, the order is already placed so the price adjustment isn't warranted.

hopefully someone has some insight.

thanks
josh

Would it be simpler to just issue a credit for the $10.00 difference to the customer instead of upsetting the whole flow?
