Gmail Auth Errors out of nowhere

Hello All!

I have been using Gmail/Google Apps with my 1.5.6.4 installation for months now with no issues. Suddenly last night, I started getting authentication errors, specifically this error: "2015-05-14 12:49:32 - PHP Notice: Error: AUTH LOGIN not accepted from server! in /home/chaseric/public_html/vapor-makers.com/system/library/mail.php on line 217".

OC was using an App Password, so I know that wasn't changed or revoked. I created a new password, tested it with Outlook which worked, then put the new password in OC. I'm still getting the same authentication errors.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what this might be or what steps I should take to troubleshoot it?

My host told me they made a lot of changes on the backend, but nothing was working. Out of desperation I started trying alternate ports/addresses and found a solution.

Changing the server from ssl://smtp.gmail.com to ssl://smtp.googlemail.com did the trick.

Hopefully this post will help someone in the future and save you from hours of troubleshooting.

It is because Google blocks sign-in attempts from apps which do not use modern security standards (mentioned on their support page). You can however, turn on/off this safety feature by going to the link below:

Go to this link and select Turn On

Moreover google block an ip when you try to send a email since a unusual location, so, you can unblock in the next link

and clicked in
