Okay,

I changed the name of the 2 php.ini files (1 in admin and other in root) and the 500 went away.

This is what is in my admin/php file Should I make a change here?

magic_quotes_gpc = Off;
register_globals = Off;
default_charset = UTF-8;
memory_limit = 64M;
max_execution_time = 18000;
upload_max_filesize = 999M;
safe_mode = Off;
mysql.connect_timeout = 20;
session.use_cookies = On;
session.use_trans_sid = Off;
session.gc_maxlifetime = 12000000;
allow_url_fopen = on;

php.ini file in root

magic_quotes_gpc = Off;
register_globals = Off;
default_charset = UTF-8;
memory_limit = 64M;
max_execution_time = 36000;
upload_max_filesize = 999M;
safe_mode = Off;
mysql.connect_timeout = 20;
session.use_cookies = On;
session.use_trans_sid = Off;
session.gc_maxlifetime = 172800;
allow_url_fopen = on;
;display_errors = 1;
;error_reporting = E_ALL;

No it has stopped working and I now get the 500 error again.

The php.ini files are still named php-NO.ini

What could be causing this please?

I just tried it, added a lamp, went all the way to credit card (off line processing) as the payment and hit continue to there and had no issues.
Might be intermittent but my time through I didn't get any error.
Does you host logs say anything?

Thanks Mike.

No logs are clear.

I will try in an different browser. I use FF but will try Chrome and IE to see if that is the problem.

Really appreciate your help.

Well I tried both IE and Chrome and it is weird.

In Checkout. the first time I hit Continue at Billing use same address, I get the error again.

Then when I click it again I go through okay.

It seems it only on the first step though.

It has me stumped. Hopefully others will know.

Thanks again

That one looks like a hosting issue. But also what version of php are you using (just a out in left field thought)?

Hi,

No I never got any glee with this one. My host checked and said the CPU usage was going crazy on the server too.

I optimized all the images and the site and tried a few things but nothing really worked and eventually they said that their hosting settings were lower than another hosting plan they had.

I took that plan and have not had any problems since.
Hope you get yours fixed too.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by changing the PHP version in DirectAdmin? What is DirectAdmin???

I too am having this error intermittently in OpenCart 2.3.0.2, when the customer clicks the Continue button to get past the Delivery Address.
