Hi all,

Just a quick question... I have installed Opencart into http://sign-serve.co.uk/store and now my boss wants me to move it to the root/index directory, now from what I've ready I understand I need to do a clean install then backup the database within the Opencart administration panel, then import the backup onto the clean install?

Just want to check before I go ahead and mess things up! ;D

All help is greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Matt

you don't need to do any of that.

1. Goto Admin->System->Settings
2. Change the Store URL to the new url without the subfolder
3. In FTP, change the paths in the config.php and admin/config.php files to the new path without the subfolder
4. In FTP, move all files and folders up one level.

Done.

It can also be found in the documentation: Moving to another folder.

Qphoria,

Your steps sounds so much easier to follow than the documented steps. Can we replace that with yours because it is easier to follow & understand and seems less mucking about.

So, we don't have to touch the database or reattach to the the new location?

I will need to do this in 2-3 weeks time. thanks

Hi,

Yeah you just have to follow his steps, it's as simple as that, you don't need to touch the databases. If you got any problems just give me a shout and I'd be more than happy to help! :)

Hi Everyone, hope someone can help, in the process of moving a clients site from our test domain (all worked fine) across to the clients domain in the same hosting package. Followed all the instructions as above, did find and replace in both config file for both domain and directories and also changed the site domain address in the admin before move the opencart site files to their new home. However, once all this was done I am getting the message below, hope someone can help as I need to get this site back up and running as it is going live. Thanks in advance.

I followed all your steps to move my site and it worked great except for my currency is in euros and not dollars. I checked the admin and euros is disabled and dollars are enabled.
What do I need to do to have dollars display on my pages?

Thanks in advance for your help.
