I accidently changed the vqmod folders CHMOD permission to 644 and the folder dissapeared from the directory.

When i try to reupload the folder it says access denied, file/folder already exists.

I have contacted my hosting provider and all the supplied me was a link that talks about enabling server side filtering, ive already done this, its not an issue with files/folders displaying with .names.

I have owner rights to the ftp connection so i should be able to see the folder!

Anyone have any advice?

I use CuteFTP.

My hosts FTP client and File Manager is also hiding the folder from view.

Makes no sense what so ever to me. Renaming a folder to 644 permissions shouldn't make it disappear.
So you did all this? http://help.globalscape.com/help/cuteft ... _files.htm

Set directories 755, files 644. (Servers have their own rules on permissions, but those are nowadays usual.) Use FileZilla Client (freeware, download and install it). The one you're using has some tendency to corruption of files (that went by recently in another thread, FileZilla Client completely cured that problem the instant it was used instead).

Good idea (FileZilla Client). And when you upload notice both the permission patterns, so it'll become a habit. It's also important to familiarize yourself with the directory structure as well as the usual content of root, admin/, and download/. Anything that does not belong in there can rivet your attention upon hacking; that familiarity is important, because you're essentially your own anti-malice scanner. If it stays fixed, then go ahead and mark the opening title Solved.
