How to make 1.5.2 themes work with 1.5.3
I have many costly 1.5.1.3 / 1.5.2 custom themes that the creators do not seem to be in a rush to update to 1.5.3.1. So, armed with a little coding knowledge and a little help from the forum I reckon I would like to have a crack at upgrading them myself to work with 1.5.3.1.
What do I need to change in the themes to make them compatible with the latest and so far greatest version of opencart, or to put it another way what has changed between 1.5.3.1 and these 'earlier' versions - theme wise.
Any helpful suggestions most welcome - and yes I have trawled the forum and yes I have used the search feature.
Thanks
Robster

Grab a copy of winmerge or similar and then compare the default theme files with your purchased theme files.

Thanks for the reply but not sure that would not help me with my question as it is not about the default theme. Let me ask it another way:
What do I need to do to make a custom 1.5.2 theme work on 1.5.3.1.?
Or to put it another way, if I have a custom 1.5.2 theme called say 'Banana Yellow', what changes do I need to make to it to make it work on 1.5.3.1.
I guess my question is more aimed towards custom theme developers that have already been through updating their 1.5.2 themes to work with 1.5.3.1.

Re: How to make 1.5.2 themes work with 1.5.3
I very much doubt anyone is going to give you a list of changes, I might be wrong but it seems unlikely.
So, using a tool like winmerge, check the differences between your 152 custom theme and the 153 defalut theme.
i.e compare:
../v152/catalog/view/theme/banana_yellow/template/common/header.tpl
with
../v153/catalog/view/theme/defalut/template/common/header.tpl
so on and so forth until you have checked through all the banana_yellow theme files against a defalut set.
There aren't many between 152 and 153.
Obviously there are going to be a lot of 'differences' with some of the files but it's not rocket science and you should be able to work out what are cosmetic changes, theme specific changes and what is added functionallity/core changes (added functionallity/core changes being what you are looking for).

Thanks again for your reply.
Yeah maybe I was asking too much and I will indeed follow your suggestions. I had hoped that someone would say - "oh you just need to update these 3 files" or something rather than having to compare hundreds of files for the answer.
Of course I could just do a fesh install of 1.5.3.1 and just upload the 1.5.2 theme and see what errors I can find. Then I can do a winmerge. At least that might narow down the file count.
Anyway thanks for taking the time and effort to help.
