I'd rather wait long for a stable 1.5.0 than a early buggy 1.5.0
patience is virtue
thanks Daniel for your hardwork

1.5.0 will have bugs, no avoiding that.
Like with 1.4.9 it took until 1.4.9.3 to be as stable possible thanks to testing AND reporting bugs by this community.

no and db transactions are not really needed for this type of application and most web applications come to think of it. maybe the banking system.

so i don't see the point of of putting in something in for no reason.

The same question I asked myself early November last year, and went for 1.4.9.2.

Went live last Friday and runs great with a lot of modifications found here on the forum + free and commercial modules and a custom template.

Go with 1.4.9.3, win on the search results and the fact that even if 1.5 was released today you would still have bugs to iron out that could impact your work load greater than having to do an update when 1.5.x is ready IMO

1.5 is stated to be NOT feature complete.
So, I say wait till late February to start building your site and then you can figure you just lost 4 months of sales!

Having done code myself, it'd say there's a very high chance that even with 1.5.0 the next version 1.5.1 will cause you to redo part of your site anyway.

But ... you could always wait ;)

yes if you are building a site right now I would go with 1.4.9.3. There is supposed to be an alpha of 1.5 released very soon, but alpha by very definition will mean it is not feature complete and will have bugs. After that is release Daniel will be moving, so there will be several weeks lost without any real work on finalizing it. I would say an initial supposedly stable 1.5.0 release will not come for a couple of months. And even then there will be bugs that are not caught before it goes into more widespread use, as the testers simply cannot replicate every possible use case.

Check out Q's vqmod, that way when you do code, at least you have it all in 1 neat little place to those of us who didn't have that option at the time. Now, it's just easier to slap the files around a bit.
