Ok Guys,

Finally after many months a new version is nearly ready.

I plan for 1 week of alpha release while i fix bugs then 1 month of beta so extension developers have time to update their extensions.
@Daniel

It's been over a month since you posted this, any progress or updates at all.....?

Do not install an alpha or beta on a live store. Unless you're a developer or want to test things out for bugs, wait until OpenCart 3.1 is officially released before updating a store with it.

If you want to get 3.1 alpha to do that, then you can get it from the first post of this topic.

Which is why, the definite link has been mentioned on the first post on where to specifically download the alpha release.

It's great that now we have a new version available but it is disappointing that it is not stable yet. Oh well, we don't live in a perfect world and will be waiting for all the errors to be fixed soon.

Relax 8)

and when do you plan a stable version? :crazy:
Fellows, PLEASE get reasonable, do you really expect somebody to know,
when a stable Version of something will be ready ? Not even Microsoft would
know such, otherways, there would be no MS-Updates for existing Windows
Versions needed ever !

And OC has not 100's of Testers employed, it's YOUR DUTY, as PART of those
OC Testers, to find out, where and what is still missing, or does not work. That's
the main Reason, why OC comes for FREE, otherways, why should anyone build
such a comprehensive Software for free? Just to make you happy ?! :laugh:
Got it ?
What a bunch of dreamers...

Ok Guys,

Finally after many months a new version is nearly ready.

Please remember this is an alpha release and should not be used on a live site. Its also recommended to use php 7 or above.

Added
Bootstrap 4
You could add an bottstrap "lite" files, adding only things used by opencart on bootstrap .css / .js files
Using this tool:
https://getbootstrap.com/docs/3.3/customize/
Bootstrap on open-cart has so many unused components
EDIT: just saw they haven't made this customize download for 4.0 yet :(

SSL can check eg. to this way:

Code: Select all

if(isset($this->request->sever['HTTPS'])){
 // Use https
}
Is no need use config_secure setting.

As long as they are thoroughly testing this release, I think it is good that the stable version is not released yet. I have seen plenty of posts where people were not happy about releases coming without enough testing.

I think it is good that the stable version is not released yet.
Well, since there is no stable V.3 Version yet, it cannot be officially be released. :D
But we all know, OC is a small Business Enterprise, and OC just does not have the
ressources, to pay a few 10k of UK Pounds, (to only get a very Few this way), to make
extensive Tests. But as I mentioned above, nobody has any right, or reason, to
complain, since nobody made a Downpayment for something , with a promise, to
have it within a certain date, and in perfect condition as well.

If one really cares about, to get a perfect latest Version OC, one is free to participate
in the GITHUB OC Site, by finding and documenting Problems, Misses, and Errors.
BUT only default OC-Things, not Journal/Pavo/Whatever -Extension related, and
installed correctly in a decent Server Environment.
That's, what OC stands for, since it exists. It always required active User Feedback,
and it will keep on this way, or it will, one day, no longer come for free, or just fade away.

But much changed, during those ~10 Years, more+more of today's OC Users seem to be
Handy-Clickers, and Words like HTML, PHP, Datanbases, etc., have no real Meaning to
them anymore. They expect something to work perfect, by installing it with a couple of
Clicks, regardless of, if it comes for free or not. ^-^

But who's to blame ? From my personal point of View, only those, seemengly expecting
too much. But one has no right, regardless of, if one ever bought Extensions trough the
official OC-Channels or not. This, since one bought those Extension for another Version,
just like Car Tires. But if those Tires don't fit one's new Car anymore, it's also not the
Autodealers Fault, nor it's Manufacturers ... ::)

But it sure cannot be pushed, if people complain about here. Rather the contrary is the
case, if one's get pushed around, for most everybody, anywhere. It would be better, either
to participate as Tester, or then, just use, what still works. ;)

I'm not related with OC ... 8)

mixed ssl is gone. its ssl or non ssl. why did i do this? because google requires all sites to be full ssl and even gives high ranking to full ssl sites.

makes coding easier as well
