I think its more their business "template"
HTML is HTML. They really only need to make it once, and then work out a system of integrating it to work with different platforms. So they probably just have the PNGs made from fireworks and then to put it into a working format takes them a few days. No point in spending hours on something that nobody is going to buy.
As someone who gets paid to develop web applications (not design them mind you), I don't find their prices to be all that offbase. Its pretty obvious they have not gone out and pre-built all those templates, thus the 4-5 day turn around. Once you order they'll build it and frankly at -minimum- you are talking 3-4 hours of work. at $60 an hour which is -cheap- for design work the price of $160 is more then reasonable. Just because they are using an opensource software package doesn't mean their work should also be free. You get what you pay for. A $50 template looks like a $50 template.
I just bought a template to try it out. But there structure is very different. To use it you have to hold on to there structure and some of the changes you can do via the admin panel doesn't work anymore. It means I have to change a lot.
So I will build my own templates they work more easy and better.
