Hi,
I'd like to install OpenCart on my own computer so that I can learn it and try some customization.
I have my localhost ready (I use xampp) and database created and so on but...
For starting auto-installer the guidance says to write in my browser: yourdomain.com/TheExactFolderName/install
Well, what to write for yourdomain.com ?

thanks,
it started with localhost:8080
Alas, just on the last step of the installation I got this on the screen:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\xampp\htdocs\opencarttest\system\framework.php on line 17

on the steps before this I just put on the Hostname: localhost:8080

have you tried with just localhost
i.e if you have loaded your oc version like this.... xampp/htdocs/oc2.3.0.2
then you should be able to put localhost/oc2.3.0.2/install into your browser and it should work
so in your case it should be
localhost/opencarttest/install

Starting of the installation is solved. It starts with: localhost:8080/opencarttest
While executing the steps, after the step 3/4 I got the above mentioned message for Fatal Error.

Thanks to everybody who try to help.
I done it somehow and now it is installed.

But now I have a very stupid problem:
While I try to change the default John Doe user, I put there my admin name and save it with some restrictions.
Now I can't reach the System menu in the admin panel. :-[
In other words I executed a self-restriction. :choke:
Can I correct this?

You could replace the permissions within phpmyadmin

But you shouldnt have the same name as your admin name otherwise this may cause conflict problems
