We are a nonprofit organization and the person who set up our site with open cart has moved on so I only know enough to run it. We are getting a ton of fake signups which we need to stop ASAP. I found this solution:

https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... on_id=4773

But I don't know how to do this. I know php and mysql as well as css and basic html, but I'm not familiar with opencart. Can anyone either help guide me through how to do this or be willing to do it for us (we can pay). Please let me know!

There are several things that you can do to protect your site:

1. Block the entire ip range in the .htaccess

2. Use an extension, kinda like this one:

Looks like blocking IP addresses won't work because each one is different and they are from all over the world.

Well, if they come from all over the World, why then blaming the Russians for this ? :-\

I have an Account Registration Captcha extension that can also prevent bot sign-ups. I don't offer free installation, but it's pretty easy to do yourself, and I'm always around to answer questions or take a look to see if you installed it correctly. If you do want me to install it for you, I charge $30 USD for an extension installation.

Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site, and if you're interested let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
