I am trying to figure out what the best way to monetize my site. I do have a braintree account ready to go.
I also have a paypal account i currently use with my orders off ebay.
Im unsure what the difference are. If i am using paypal does a customer have to have a paypal
account to use their Credit card? If im using Braintree i believe they can just use their card.
I see a neat little extension
https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... =xtensions
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Braintree is now owned by PayPal, and can operate as a pass-through for a PayPal payment. It can thus accept credit cards (through its own processing) and PayPal payments (through PayPal). My Braintree Payment Gateway extension supports both of these things.

If you go with the PayPal Standard payment method built into OpenCart, you can also accept PayPal payments and credit cards, but customers need to click the "Use a credit card" link if they don't want to use their PayPal account. You also need to make sure to turn that option on in your PayPal account. It's a bit convoluted, and the customer is always taken off-site to PayPal's hosted payment page. If you want the customer to stay on your own site, you'd need a Braintree extension like mine.

Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site, and if you're interested let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
