Well how did you try to remove it ???
I commented it out within admin and it doesnt show on front page

I deleted the placeholder {{Currency}} from the common/header

If you edited the twig file you will need to refresh all caches before you will see the change but if you edit it via theme editor on admin you should see it instantly after saving file

if you delete us and euro currency that makes it disappear e.g. only have one currency

what happens if you use both ocmod and editing a page via theme editor?
i believe oc reads only the changes that you have done via theme editor,
and no module which changes this specific file will work

You are correct...you cannot use both. You either use ocmod/vqmod or theme editor
I would prefer to use ocmod or vqmod rather than the theme editor

Ensure to clear your OC cache from your admin - > dashboard - > blue icon on the right and from your admin - > extensions - > modifications - > refresh button when modifying TWIG files outside the TWIG editor and not to use the automatic setting from the Modal Security window in the OC admin.
