Category name on product grid

Hello Everyone,

I'm a beginner, I'd like to show category names on product grid.
I have 2 levels of category
Level 1: Electronics
Level 2: Electronics > Mobile Phones

I have attached a picture, I want to display level 1 (parent) category on top of image and level 2 (sub category) below price.

I tried editing "template/product/category.tpl" directly but it is not working.

Better to regroup the products by categories from your product grid rather than showing repetitive levels with your products. This way, the level 1 category would show up once while having many sub-levels that may be linked with your products as it would also simplify and optimize the results on your search page.
