Is it possible to use animated .gif as product images in opencart 2.2.0.0?

I would like to know if there is a way pf using animated .gif as product immages in opencart particularly 2.2.0.0?
I would like to be able to use these as category images as I have so many products.

Gif images are not supported by OpenCart.

Opencart constantly converts images to different sizes given in store/theme settings. Converted images are always in JPG format, so the only way for you is to do some custom job. But I'd recommend you to avoid using animated GIFs anywhere in your store. There're plenty nice jQuery plugins, which can add some neat animation effects to JPG images.
