why does multi-store home page have 2 canonical links in header?

When using multi-store I am getting 2 canonical links in the header... the first is the actual store address, but then it gets overwritten by the default store address...

how can I fix this?

fixed by editing out the if statement regarding canonical in ..
public_html/catalog/controller/common/home.php
