My opencart theme was purchased installed by someone that is not in contact any more.

Hello Everyone,

I am not a tech guy and know nothing about Opencart etc. We had hired someone and he got some freelance personnel to fix an issue with our website. Actually we could not access the admin. There was no admin page at all. Well, when he fixed it, it all worked fine and then we came to know it was done in Opencart. That is however not the issue.

Now, the issue is the freelancer is nowhere to be found who got our website working in Opencart. So, in other words we do not have the credentials (username and password) of the current version.
We have now approached an IT personnel to upgrade it to the latest version and he has asked us to provide the credentials for the theme that is running. This is the issue - we do not know the credentials. How do I get my credentials to get to know the theme and update the version.

Any other options? please advice.

If you have access to webhosting, you can create account admin for website from PhpMyAdmin database.

When create account chose MD5 for password, and write one. Then you will change later.

The reply I got for the IT personnel is that " we want to upgrade the theme but have no credentials". Is there a solution to this? Thanks.

Credentials to website admin? Or credentials to login website from where you buyed the theme?

From where the theme has been bought. If nothing can be done about that now what should be done ? Thanks.

If theme wasn`t buyed be you, using you e-mail adress (account) you can`t do anything then to buy theme again if has new version.
What is the teme name?

Righ click on website, view source and do a search for word theme.

Change theme if you want to upgrade to 3.0.2.0 or hire someone to convert to 3.0.2.0, but I don`t think will cost as a theme.

Well, how about just buying a new theme, if you want to use the latest OC Version,
and you don't like the Default Theme, it's the only way, to get anywhere...

Thanks again for replying continously. The problem is I have OC 2.0. Now since I do not have credentials how do I upgrade to the next version after 2.0 not necessary 3.0. And in any case there is no 3.0.

To upgrade from OC 2.0 to 2.3 is easy. (not custom modules, theme)

So you need to chose:

1. stay with 2.0
2. upgrade to 2.3, and extract theme files from 2.0 and hire someone to convert to 2.3
3. buy another theme compatible with 2.3/3.0.2.0 and after upgrade to change.
4. buy theme from themeforest and upgrade to 2.3, and hire to convert to 3.0.2.0 if you want...

To conclude this:
Your basic Problem is, that you are actually illegally using a paid Theme,
since you cannot prove, to be the legal Buyer, for what reason ever. You
therefore have absolutely no right, to make any claims, to anyone. And
that's it, tell this your Boss. He's in charge, because he did not bother,
to be the Buyer, but left it to whoever sold the installation, by possible
Use of an already stolen Theme Extension, available from certain places.

So, whatever you do, you will have to buy a new Theme anyway, or then,
get one of the free Selections, offered in the OC Extension Section.
