How to get it know what version of OpenCart is used on a site?

The VERSION constant should be declared at the top of the index.php file and admin/index.php file. If that is missing from both files, that's a problem, since extensions rely on that to determine certain code routines. In that case, you'll probably want to hire someone to look at the actual code, and figure out what version it is based on that.

If you need to find a developer, you should post a request in the OpenCart "Commercial Support" forum, which is checked by a number of OpenCart developers. You can also try checking out the OpenCart "Partners" area.

About OC-Versions in General

It's more or less the regular way for OpenCart, not to mention OC-Versions,
if a Newbie visits Github, and does not know, where to look, it's not possible to
find out about about Versions, and Github is a strictly technical Place ... ::)

One therefore does not have to wonder, why so many new Visitors here do
NOT mention their OC Versions, most of them don't even know. And it makes
very little sense, to fill this Place with ton's of useless Replies, to only mention a
missing Version, and nothing else. Exept for possibly just adding Numbers.

There should better be a structure, forcing every Forum-User, to add the Version
used to the 'personal' Data, then always visible in the footer, or so. It would not take
much, for a Pro, I assume.

They mostly only come here, after beeing confronted with some problems, and they
sure don't read -HOW TO- Topics first, in a place, overcrowded with Information, not
matching their 'foreseen' Place, and widely unfindable again, even for Bozo's like me,
by use of an OC Search, wich is not worth it's name.

It's probably one of the reasons too, that so many still believe in 'ugrading' OC, for them
it's all still the same, and OC probably just added some stuff, not yet included in the older one.
But even MS Windows was forced, to add some specific Word, to prevent the Ever-Newbies
from 'upgrading' their old WIN Versions by simply overwriting existing Win-Code...
But it's also NOT the OC Users Fault, since it is even document this way. And for that makes
one sometimes really feel like a motherless child ...

just thinking !
