Hi,
I've got a couple questions concerning speeding up my shopping cart. It comes up very slowly for me. I came across this article. I followed the cache and gzip tips. Please be patient because my php and apache knowledge is 0.
1. Why do my categories and product pages still load slowly?
2. If I enable seo links, would the older links still work? I have literally hundreds of pages with the previous links.
Thanks
P.S. I'm running 2.0.2.0.

I don't know, how many do you have? Have you looked at NitroPack Cache from iSense?
Yes.
We wrote this article and although it's for Concrete5, not OpenCart, some of the things can be applied to OC:

I tried to use .htaccess to add gzip and cache, but I don't think I did it right. Could you take a look at it?

try this one, linked below, it also rewrites http: //shopsite to http: //www .shopsite.
You just have to #-quote the 2 rewrite Lines 33+34 of the HTTP Link, and REMOVE
the 2 # from the 2 HTTPS Lines 38+39 to make it work the https - way!
Good Luck!

Well, you're not finished yet either !
it's just the Beginning, like for any Tuner, trying to peak a Race-Car to it's best.
At least, you've got a good 96er on performance already, and if you follow
the recommandations, made by GTMETRIX, you will end up with a nice
98 / 90+ Result, I assume!
It will take some additional Mod's, like 'Subdomain image links', 'Image Size' Tags,
'Cookie-free domain Script/Style Linking' e.t.c., and first, you have to
download and replace compressed CSS and JS Files from GTMETRIX as well.
Make sure to then rename those files again, before uploading them, by removing the
additional Filename - Content, added by GTMETRIX, again.
Search this Place by use of GOOGLE for infos on speeding up OC, I also have made
several posting on such.

Well, you probably wrongly interprete, what that means. I earn 99 /91 Results on GtMetrix,
also by use of this .htaccess file. But if you want it done in no time, then, get Isenselab's
NITRO Extension, it saves you a lot of work, otherwise waiting, to be done, if you care
to make it to it's best.
