One product on multiple URLs : dealing with duplicate content

Hello,

I use OC 2.0.1.1 and have a question regarding SEO best practice and how to implement on OC.

For one given product, I have several URLs that allows accessing it.

domain.com/product_name
domain.com/category1/product_name
comain.com/category2/product_name

That generates duplicate content which is bad for SEO.

How can I manage this problem ? Is there a way to force the canonical URL to one of the URLs ?

Thank you in advance,

Later OpenCart versions have canonical links added, which solves the problem. Also there're SEO extensions like Smart SEO, which do the same and add or improve canonical links. So it's either upgrade or purchase extension. The third option is direct coding, but you need to have some knowledge for that.

Ok. My problem is that I already have a SEO extension and I am afraid there would be conflicts between the 2 extensions.

Well, if you already have SEO extension and it adds canonicals, then you shouldn't worry.
