Accept Email address with hyphen '-' sign?

Hi,

Email address field don't accept having hyphen '-' sign in the address. How can we accept hyphen in email address field?
For e.g email address is :
abc@def-xyz.com

Now in this case it is showing invalid email id. Pls guide
