Hi,
I have done heavily changes to the basic template files and i want to create clone/replica of my website with full backup.
What is the best method to create clone/replica of website (with complete database & all files) on other server or localhost?
Thanks

Simply dump your database from PHPMyAdmin and zip/download all your files from server. That's it, pretty straightforward, nothing else is required.

Even easier - just ask your web host. Many will do this for you.thekrotek wrote:Simply dumb your database from PHPMyAdmin and zip/download all your files from server. That's it, pretty straightforward, nothing else is required.

Just don't forget to do necessary changes in both config.php and admin/config.php files

If i will copy all the files and create database from the backup to new server and also modify the necessary changes to config.php and admin/config.php. It will create same replica/clone of my current website ?
Anything else i want to do more or it is ok?
Thanks

If you do everything right, this should be enough, yes.

I am using Akeeba Stand alone to make a clone of the site.
But the urls at the products descriptions are absolute so even if I am changing the config.php they are keep taking the path from the main site and not the subfolder where I install the clone .
Except edit the db and change about 6.000 urls, is there is any other workaround?
Those urls there has to be relative and not absolute!
Thanks

Well, it is not easy as it sounds. I have done the following:
1. Copied my root folder to a new folder. (My new domain is pointing to that new folder)
2. Backed up my database and replaced website1.co.uk with website2.co.uk in the entire .sql file
3. Restored the amended database into the new database
4. Amended config.pgp and admin/config.php and also .htaccess to reflect the new paths folders and databases.
I am using Fastor template and I keep getting .tpl errors all over the website. The website is working overall but as I said I am getting template errors. Also when I log in /admin not all my extensions are there and some of them are there but don't work.
It doesn't seem to be as straight forward as everyone says.
Any suggestions please? What am I missing from the replication process?
