What I have:
I have 10's of thousands of products from 8 vendors.
I have csv files from them all.
I need an effective way to import the data into my existing category structure and im not sure how to handle this efficiently.
You'll need to format your data the same as the tool exports it, so I'd reccomend doing an export of whatever you currently have on your site so you know the format it takes, and copying in the data from the other files into the right areas.
Run a full backup + database first though just incase something messes up
Also... arent we able to just upload these csv's directly into mysql with phpadmin and it would just populate the database? Isnt that what this mod is doing anyways???
But such, usually, just ends in frustration and depression, if one expects TOO MUCH out of a
free SW Package. So, at least, try to get familiar a little, before expecting this Software to
make you rich quick. Because, there is no way, to just use a randomly created text file, filled
with content, send it to a server, and it works.
And if you have thousands of products, waiting to be sold, it's gonna take a good while, and
hard work, to sort everything out, and DEFINE it, so it can be handled by an import tool, each
Attribute, and/or Option, each Price, and/or Discounts, each Colour, each Size, e.t.c., everything
has to be 'checked/marked/prepared' and placed right, as well, so, the import tool is able to 'read' it,
and so know's it name, value|s, and purpose.
It's just an advise, and not my problem either.

So, don't be mad at me now!
Good Luck

Imho, best import tool, I have been using for years, is Total Import Pro. If it's a must in your case.Blackgate wrote:I'm having some issues figuring out how to deal with multiple item imports from various vendors for my store. Your suggestions would be very much appreciated as to how you guys handle this.

You can get even automatically csv files and process them according to specific import profiles, modifying them before import according to your needs with custom operations.

It provides accuracy from XML over database. It's too bad that no product option presentation was made though and the price that has extended from 70.00 to 100.00 but it does look like a solid module.

Nice module, I didn't know it. It seems very similar to CSV Import Pro / XML Import Pro / Total Import Pro from Hostjars.straightlight wrote:I do find this module interesting at times: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... n_id=20834

Anyway I still find Total Import Pro the best solution... it can import CSV, XML, it can get a file from HTTP, FTP automatically, it can adapt/adjust fields, and a lot more. I don't have any relation with them but I can say it is a very good tool.
