Opencart version 2.0.1.1
My top menu only shows the sub-items on click and they are then displayed horizontally instead of vertically.
I am unable to find any settings in the administrator section to change this, any suggestions on how to fix?

You, basically, run into the same problem, with your v.2.x, as I tried to explain, on a potential v.1.5.6.x-related MENU Problem.

Your Category Lines BREAK the Menu Section. They press Parts of the Link-Lines into the second Line, because they cannot break the WIDTH of the CSS-defined MENU-Container, as a consequence, it add's, one line below, what's left to do, possibly screwing up the whole page. Visually...
Just to give you the Idea, LESS Text, eventually SMALLER Fonts, LESS LEFT/RIGHT Margin, possibly less LEFT/RIGHT Padding, I was able to make 12 Cats, this way, on
