Will there be any implications to running the upgrade e.g. /install script 3 times in a row?
would it cause any duplicates in database?
As you are doing this on a test shop there are no implications other than deleting the test and start again

If you clear data before upgrading data, I think the data is not doubled.
Not it won't create duplicate columns in the database.
