can anybody please tell me how I would add small social links to the bottom of each confirmation email that is sent?
just a row is what Im after like... please see attachment

If you edit the template file:
catalog/view/theme/<your theme>/template/mail/order.tpl
You can add them to the bottom of that. The rest of the default emails are simple text based emails so it wouldn't work as nice.
I'd advise purchasing the professional HTML template extension, I use it and it's awesome. Plus, it create template files for every type of email, so you can then modify those to include your links.
