Hi

I am a relative new OPENCARTer. I changed from CubeCart in July.

I installed at Version 1.5.05 and bought mods etc. to get my site up and running.
Now it is running i see the upgrade is to version 1.5.3

Question : Can i upgrade from V1.5.05 to V1.5.3 or do i have to go through all the versions in between ?

Thanks

the latest version is 1.5.1.3

You can upgrade, follow the the upgrade.txt file instructions.

You will most likely need to get updated versions of any mods you have purchased though.

After the upgrade you will need to uninstall and reinstall all Extensions - Modules and re-set them back up.

This is due to a database change at 1.5.1

most modules should work after 1.5.1.2 to 1.5.1.3
If any of them use the old tax lookup or json method, it would throw an error and you'll know if it needs update

I have updated to the new version. When in admin page of opencart I see this message.

"Warning: Install folder still exists!"

How do I fix this issue?

Thanks.

Suppose I'll upgrade to OC 1.5.1.3, and uninstall and reinstall my extensions.
What will happen with the data that has been added to the database by using an extension????

For example: I'm using the commercial extension : "Custom Product TAB".
This extension enabled me to add 5 extra pages for each product. On these extra pages customers can find detailed productinfo. What will happen with the information (mostly text) on these pages when I uninstall and reinstall this extension? Lost????

OC version 1.5.4.1

Can someone help me please?
I had v1.5.1.2 (fresh install) and today I upgraded my store to latest version (v1.5.1.3.1) all went well except one:
I got Permission Denied! in admin panel System-Localisation-Taxes-Tax rates
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

It will need to be re-entered for at least the default OC extensions and (maybe) any custom extensions you have added

Depends on how the extension stores the data in the database. If stored in the settings table, the data will be gone when the extension is uninstalled.

You should check with the extension developer

Also Note - Any custom extensions you have installed will most likely need re-installing and you should check that they are compatible with 1.5.1.3

Hi uksitebuilder,

That does not sound like music to my ears....
I only sell 6 products, but each product uses 5 pages with detailed information and I use 3 different languages on my site.

So there is a good chance that uninstalling this extension, will result in: 6x5x3=90 lost pages? Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
I'll contact the developer for more information.

Is updating OC always this time consuming?

Thanx for your reaction!

I doubt that data would be stored with the module settings, so you may be OK, but best to check with the developer first.

Not always, but sometimes forward progression means changes must be made

I agree and its very nice to know that a lot of people like you do their utmost best to make OC better.

Maybe I'll skip this update and just wait for the next version which adds extra functions to OC.
I'v moderated a lot last month and it takes too much time to repeat all these steps, every time OC is being updated.

Have a fine weekend all!
