Hello
Used osCommerce/CRE Loaded for years but now trying my hand at opencart. One thing I am trying to do is offer 2 flat rate options for the same store. Standard for $9.95 or rush for $19.95.
I have checked the plugins, but it seems like everything I read is multi flat rate options for multi stores or multi zones.
We ship USA only. Only 1 zone (USA). But I would like to let the customer choose from either standard delivery ($9.95) or rush delivery ($19.95) when they are checking out.
Any ideas for this newbie?
Many thanks!
Rob
1. Use the built-in Weight Based Shipping. Create two Geo Zones (in System > Localisation > Geo Zones) with the same location (in your case, USA > All Zones) and then set up two options for them in the shipping method like this:
USA Standard Delivery = 99999:9.95
USA Rush Delivery = 99999:19.95
2. Use an extension like Multi Flat Rate Shipping, which can set up flat rates for one store (or multiple stores) as well as different geo zones, currencies, and customer groups.
USA Standard Delivery = 99999:9.95
USA Rush Delivery = 99999:19.95

For quantity-based rates, take a look at Quantity-Based Shipping. It can do per-item rates like that.
Or, you could make all your items weigh 1 unit, and then use the built-in Weight Based Shipping to charge like this:
1:20.00, 2:25.00, 3:30.00, 4:35.00, etc.

Thank you Johnathan - used your option 1 and works great

I have some unique shipping needs. Any suggestions on how to set it up or point me to an extension. Here' what I need to do. I have products that have different shipping requirements.
Version 1.5.6.4
1. Flat fee
2. Shipping based on total amount of sale - i.e.
Sale under $20 shipping $11
Sale $21 - $49 shipping $16
Sale $50 - $79 shipping $22
etc.
3. Shipping fee on specific product for specialty packaging.
4. Shipping fee on multiple quantities of specific product for specialty packaging. If a customer buys 2 of the same
type of products but different color they go in the shopping cart as separate items. Other than the color they both
require shipping fee for specialty packaging but - shipping 2 or 3 is the same cost as shipping only 1. How do I set
I set it up so there is only one shipping fee.
Is there a module or is this customized programing?

Category & Product-Based Shipping can do product-specific rates, including those based on total. Feel free to take a look at the screenshots and demo site, and if you're interested let me know at www.getclearthinking.com/contact if you have any further questions.
Hello Johnathan /hummerton,
You have mentioned that you have set up two options for them in shipping method. Could you please provide me details of doing this? I have already created 2 Geo Zones. But I am not able to understand how to set up two options for them in shipping method?
I appreciate your help!
Thanks.
