I hope you are all well,

would you mind spending a few minutes with me, i would like to downlaod OC 2.3.0.2 with all the latest fixes, i know i need to download it from Github, but there are so many options, im lost!

is it as simple as downloading the "2.3.0.2-compiled.zip" version? will this include OC 2.3.0.2 release and all the fixes since its release date?

i know i need to get it from here : https://github.com/opencart/opencart/releases

the reason for me not to go to OC3 is they dont seem very stable right now as there seems to be a new version every other week.

OC Versions contain the Code, dated, as that Version has been released.
None of them is updated later anymore, to my knowledge at least, and if some
fixes are to be made, they have to be found and implemented into the downloaded
Version source by Users themselfs.

OC cannot concentrate on multiple Versions, by Nature of Things, since OC comes for free.
And it's an ongoing Project, since OC started, and it will continue to change, that's for sure.
Just like Microsoft, and anybody else... ;)
And they only create free Updates, because their Software did not come for free ! :D

PS: But please don't ask me, why they still publish that (just about) entire range of older Versions,
because I would not know... ::) It's probably, because they also advertise about 14'000 Extensions,
whereby, for OC v.3 at least, possibly only about 140 exist. (so far) Who knows ?! :D

OK I'm surprised by that. i would have thought , i could download a version of 2.3.0.2 that contains all the fixes between its release date and the date the next version was released. surely this would make some sense to someone?

i understand old versions not being supported once a new version is released but if im reading it correctly OC 2.3.0.2 has had the following, "released this on Aug 1, 2016 · 1419 commits to master since this release" for me to manually install all those updates is really not feasible is it?

well, they released a later _RC Version, assumingly containing most of those Fixes,
but this 2.3.0.3_ReleaseCandidate was dropped, in favour of OC-3. And the problem
is, that it seemengly changed in a few spots, compared with 2.3.0.2, and this could make
it hard, to find any support, or even Mod's, if one uses this Pre-Release, like the fellow, just
asking for support in another topic somewhere... :o
It's like in my 1.5.6.5_rc case, just, this one was really the best of them all, and still worked with
just about every Mod, created for older Versions before! So, better accept the Facts, Heaven
does not come for free ! After all, nobody has to waste a lot of costly time, one could always get
it made, if one requires a real Pro Solution. ;)
Good Luck !

you say "2.3.0.3_ReleaseCandidate" was dropped but according to Github this 2.3.0.x was updated only days ago, this is a long time after OC3 was released, so if what you're saying about older versions not getting the support, why would the 2.3.0.x version be showing a update?

https://github.com/opencart/opencart/commits/2.3.x

Sorry for all the questions but i really don't understand Github and why the fact all the fixes are not added to a final release, up until that date before moving onto the next version. i also see on GitHub people reporting issues with older versions, say this one for instance 2.2.0.0 that seems to read Daniel is looking into the reason why.

I've seen this update today, it must be an IMPORTANT one, I assume. ???
But OC is hard to guess or bet on, they are good Coders, but lean on infos :D
That's it, on this :D

Thank you ,

Im still i little confused with Github as it still offers the following to downlaod,

Branch
Master (3.0.1.3 (Beta)
2.3.x (2.3.0.3_rc')
dev-cloud (3.0.0.0 (Beta)
master-pre-rollback (2.3.0.0_b1')
revert-4529-patch-25 (2.3.0.3_rc')
revert-4530-patch-26 (2.3.0.3_rc')
revert-7410-patch-1 (2.3.0.3_rc')
revert-5234-dev (3.0.0.0')
revert-5259-patch-15 (3.0.0.0')
revert-5471-patch-18 (3.0.0.0 (Beta)')

what do they all mean? as you can download / clone them all.
