Hello,
I am trying to add a language to my store, but I cannot add new language from the admin panel, because I don't have the language code in the drop down menu? even after I placed the folder in catalog/language ?
Could you give me some advises?

Hello,
I'm having the same problem.
Official documentation states that it is enough to add language files in catalog->language in order for language to appear in front-end. But this doesn't seem to be true anymore in OC 2.2

There are a few changes in the language settings of version 2.2. You can download my language and found some changed or please send me your language, I"ll check and guide

Same here. Was testing out OC 2.2 from a clean install and it fails on many areas, including this one: language options not available (drop down instead of text box). I tried inserting the code from DB and it does appear in Admin, but it fails on front end.

Must change file name:
Catalog/language/your_code_language/default.php to
Catalog/language/your_code_language/your_code_language.php
And
Admin/language/your_code_language/default.php to
Admin/language/your_code_language/your_code_language.php
Copy your_flag.png from image/flags/ to your language folder
That's fine
Catalog/language/your_code_language/default.php to
Catalog/language/your_code_language/your_code_language.php
And
Admin/language/your_code_language/default.php to
Admin/language/your_code_language/your_code_language.php
Copy your_flag.png from image/flags/ to your language folder
That's fine

Going to try that tomorrow. But I think it should be do-able from the Admin. The old ways of doing it (textbox) seems to be a more straight-forward way just like stated in the docs (http://docs.opencart.com/system/localisation/language/) which is not yet updated to the latest OC version way of doing it.moused72 wrote:Must change file name:

Yes, my language (en-us) is available in the drop down just fine. (admin and storefront) But the image does not show, only the alternate text 'English.' (so on the storefront, I have 'English English' and in admin I have a broken image placeholder followed by 'English')
I've checked the us.png and gb.png and the file permissions are the same. I've reloaded both pages several times. Somewhere, there should be a setting (used to be your_locale.php) but I can't seem to find it now. It's also been removed from the languages section on the admin side. You can no longer set all the options you used to be able to set prior to 2.2.0.
edit - FOUND IT!
The flag.png files only have country codes for names.
You need to match the file name to the full language code.
In my case I needed it to be: en-us.png, NOT us.png (as it existed in the flags directory)
Same for me.spemux wrote:None of the suggestions above worked for me. Was it really necessary to change the language function? I am having difficulties installing Finnish language.
I uploaded all files, and noticed, that in the drop-down it shows the code not "Finnish" but "Finni".
So I changed the folde name to finni, and the language started to show.
But - NO LANGUAGE FLAG!
What is the problem with this 2.2. lang stuff? WHy cant change as if was before?
Does your language folder contains language flag image?
e.g catalog/language/en-gb/en-gb.png
e.g catalog/language/en-gb/en-gb.png
